The Brief

Longleat needed a dependable local contractor to provide regular external window cleaning across key public-facing areas of the estate.

The weekly work includes cleaning ten single-storey food, beverage and retail units at Longleat Safari Park. These areas need to be completed before the park opens to the public, keeping vehicles and equipment away from visitor spaces.

C&D Services also cleans seven two-storey VIP holiday lets each month. These visits must be planned around departures and arrivals, so the work can be completed while the properties are vacant.

The wider service has also included cleaning the Orangery, signage, mobile catering units, Longleat House windows and Gorilla House windows.

The Challenge

A visitor attraction needs a different level of planning to a standard commercial site.

Cleaning has to be completed around opening times, guest bookings, visitor routes, staff movements and access restrictions. Some areas are highly visible to the public, while others require extra coordination with site teams.

Key considerations included:

  • Completing work before public opening times.
  • Planning visits around holiday let arrivals and departures.
  • Working across food, retail and guest accommodation areas.
  • Managing access in tight or restricted locations.
  • Supporting specialist areas with site-specific controls.
  • Responding quickly after poor weather or urgent site issues.

This type of work needs a contractor who understands how to operate around live visitor environments without disrupting the wider site.

Our Approach

C&D Services plans each visit around Longleat’s operating schedule. Weekly cleaning is completed before the park opens, so public areas are ready for visitors.

The team uses vans with 650L water tanks and a full range of wash poles to service different areas across the estate.

Where access is tight, the team adapts the method. The Orangery, for example, is cleaned using a mobile wash system because vehicle access is restricted.

Specialist areas are handled with extra care. Gorilla House windows are cleaned under strict zookeeper control, making coordination and safe working essential.

C&D Services also supports Longleat with ad-hoc cleaning after poor weather. In December 2024, the team helped clear storm damage before the Festival of Light, using water tanks and pressure washers to clean footway matting and re-erect blown down fencing.

Why This Matters for Commercial Sites

Commercial venues and visitor attractions need contractors who can work around opening hours, guests, staff and public areas.

C&D Services supports clients with planned scheduling, professional equipment, safe working methods and a practical approach to busy operational sites.

This makes the service ideal for visitor attractions, estates, venues, hospitality sites, holiday accommodation and public-facing commercial properties.

The Result

Longleat receives a reliable planned cleaning service across key public-facing areas of the estate.

Food units, retail areas and holiday lets are cleaned around the site’s operational needs, helping maintain a clean and professional appearance for visitors and guests.

The wider relationship also gives Longleat access to responsive ad-hoc support when weather, events or site issues create extra cleaning demands.

For Longleat, it provides a trusted local contractor who understands the site, the schedule and the importance of keeping public areas looking their best.
